The Plate Project Reaches Fiji

The Plate Project Reaches Fiji

How many plastic plates and cups can you save in a day?

The Plate Project is a campaign to raise awareness and hopefully reduce the use of styrofoam and plastic used in the food industry. It is the brainchild of the Indie Food NGO. Twelve  countries are so far  involved in the project  during which the project's local ambassadors will use the same blue plate and cup for a month, for their breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Apart from raising awareness about a pressing environmental issue, the Plate Project has also a cultural dimension as it highlights the culinary traditions of each country and food availability.  The emblematic blue plate arrived in Suva, Fiji, today.  Youth advocate Fenton Lutunatabua shares his experience and the reactions of people at  various food outlets in Suva.
The blue plate will leave for London, England, at the end of March.
